Canadian Tourism College partnership with Contiki

Date: 12 Deceomber 2018

The Travel and Tourism Diploma program at Canadian Tourism College (CTC) in British Columbia is getting an upgrade that sets a new standard for education in the world’s second-largest industry. In partnership with Contiki, a one-week European adventure to London and Paris will be introduced as part of CTC’s curriculum starting in April 2019Arianne Carangan from Winnipeg, Manitoba was the first student to register for the new program.  For her, this diploma allows her to study something she is passionate about while fulfilling her life-long dream of travelling to Europe. Carangan explained how she feels about being given the opportunity to bring her learning to life saying, “I have never been this excited to study!”

This new feature is designed so that students can gain first-hand experience in all aspects of the travel industry while seeing some of the most spectacular destinations in the world. As part of the Contiki adventure, students will be having dinner with Londoners in their homes and cooking alongside a European chef in Paris. They will be taken on a perfumery tour in Paris, visiting the world-renowned Palace of Versailles, and staying at Contiki’s own Chateau de Cruix – the travel company’s ‘Special Stay’. Most importantly, students will be receiving behind-the-scenes instruction from the Contiki team helping them understand how to design and operate life-changing trips for travellers.

Sheralyn Berry, President of Contiki Canada has been working with her staff together with Benjamin Colling, COO for Canadian Tourism College, for over a year to bring this program together and is thrilled that students will be given this opportunity. Berry stated that “This allows Contiki, the world’s leading youth travel company offering epic global adventures to 18-35-year-old’s, to invest in tomorrow’s travel leaders”. Milan Petrovich, President of Canadian Tourism College believes offering this expedition to students goes far beyond the traditional classroom style of learning. “I don’t know of any other tourism college in Canada that provides this type of experience to its students- in B.C. it is the first of its kind.”

While the trip component of the Travel and Tourism diploma program will be an option for students beginning their program in the winter, it will become automatically included for all students those who start the program in spring 2019. www.tourismcollege.com
